Teddy Bears (Shichon)
Our Teddy Bear program is built around long-term health, sound structure, stable temperament, and intentional early development. Having bred Teddy Bears longer than any other breed in our program, we carefully select Shih Tzu moms for healthy structure, including eyes, bite, patellas, and overall conformation, with many coming from established Ukrainian show lines. Parents are DNA screened and OFA evaluated for cardiac, patellas, and eyes, with our Bichon sire also OFA certified for hips. Puppies begin Early Neurological Stimulation and scent introduction in their first days of life, followed by regular handling, socialization, and real-life experiences that help build confident, adaptable companions. Several PTK-bred Teddy Bears have gone on to certified therapy work in nursing homes and hospitals.

Essential Information
Teddy Bears, also known as Shichons or Zuchons, are a cross between the Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise. They are small companion dogs known for affectionate, social temperaments, low-shedding coats, and a size that works well for many families. Our puppies typically mature around 10-15 pounds and are bred with an emphasis on sound structure, trainability, and long-term health.
Most Teddy Bears inherit the furnished, low-shedding coat both parent breeds are known for, though no dog can be guaranteed completely non-shedding or hypoallergenic. Coat color may also lighten or change as puppies mature, so we do not guarantee adult color.
